Purpose:
The Case Manager offers support and services in order to assist clients in their journey towards self-sufficiency by assisting them in securing employment.
Spanish and Creole speakers required.
Responsibilities:
Empower clients to formulate realistic yet ambitious self-sufficiency plans.
Assist clients in their journey towards employment in the United States and help prepare clients for employment.
Liaise with employers in the area to recruit positions for our clients.
Remove obstacles to employment by helping prepare clients to enter the work force.
This will be done through a variety of measures including training, counseling, and providing support.
Work with clients to remove barriers to employment and realize the goal of family self-sufficiency.
Identify support services that may assist clients in becoming self-sufficient, such as ESL, transportation, immigration services, and childcare.
Document all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs.
Complete all required reports.
Advocate on behalf of clients.
Offer interpretation and translation services to clients, as well as transportation to interviews and appointments as necessary.
(Compensation is paid by CWS for mileage when using a personal vehicle.
) Attend trainings and conferences as requested by supervisor.
Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to refugees, using current information to better identify and serve refugee clients.
Represent the program at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
Undertake other duties as assigned.
Work varied hours, including some occasional night and weekend work.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and
Experience:
Fluency in a refugee language is strongly desired.
Preferred languages include Spanish and Ukrainian, although others will be considered.
Superior written and verbal communication skills Computer literacy- with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and internet applications.
Prior experience utilizing databases and case-noting strongly preferred.
Experience in employment services and connections to agencies and employers in the Jersey City area strongly preferred.

Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred, High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work experience in employment services is preferred by hiring team, but three years of previous work experience is required.
Interest in refugee resettlement or other direct social services is necessary.
Cultural sensitivity and a curiosity about people from a multitude of backgrounds is essential.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
