RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Communications Representative for Jersey City Medical Center.
This position is a Part-Time, Day position.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Good knowledge of PBX consoles a must Must be able to communicate clearly, have good diction, pleasant speaking voice, and be clearly understood over the telephone Preferred:
One (1) year of experience as telephone operator in a busy multi-position environment preferred; will also consider customer service experience A bilingual candidate is strongly preferred Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions remove when posting):
Shift working, 6:
00am 2:
00pm each shift Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday FT/PD
Essential Functions:
As a Communications Operator, you are usually the first point of contact for anyone who phones a hospital.
You will operate switchboard equipment to receive calls and pass them on to the correct person or department.
Operates the telephone switchboard by connecting calls to the appropriate extension or outside party.
The employee works as the sole operator dealing with complex or emergency situations, which are common.
The employee performs clerical support service in connection with duties, Receives Incoming local and long-distance calls and connects to the appropriate office or Individual by regular extension or by the paging system.
Receives Information from caller in order to make proper connection when the caller is unclear.
Furnishes direct factual information on routine matters such as hospital visiting hours and other requested information when there are no questions as to propriety of releasing such Information.
Refers inquiries on in-patients' condition to the appropriate nursing station, nursing supervisor or doctor.
Refers other Inquiries to appropriate member of staff.
Transfer all coming, out-going or intra-office calls to proper department.
