Supervisory Criminal Investigator

Being a Criminal Investigator makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer profession with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations. As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator, you will be responsible for planning, managing, directing, coordinating, and overseeing a full range of criminal and administrative investigative activities and operations in their respective field office. Typical assignments include:
Monitoring and evaluating the progress of the organization towards meeting goals, and making adjustments in objectives, work plans, schedules and commitment of resources to meet project needs. Performing first line supervisory duties and responsibilities over a staff of Criminal Investigators and administrative support staff. Representing the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (AIG/I) at meetings and conferences with key officials in the DHS, other federal and state agencies and private organizations and business firms concerned within all jurisdictions of assigned field office. Responding to congressional inquiries and requests, and briefs congressional staff on the status and results of investigative work as required. Serving as a senior law enforcement officer with extensive enforcement or investigative experience, possessing a thorough knowledge of law enforcement work and internal security operations. You qualify for the GS-15 grade level (starting salary $141,835) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent at the GS-14 grade level performing the full range of investigative duties that must include; Serving as a supervisor or team leader to a group of subordinate criminal investigators overseeing the full range of criminal, civil, and administrative investigations, including those of a highly sensitive and complex nature and two of the following:
Planning investigative workloads with oversight of criminal investigators pending and finished assignments; Providing guidance to a group/team of criminal investigators and/or administrative staff; and providing training to criminal investigators in law enforcement techniques. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date 06/17/2019of this announcement. Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade band in the federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met by the closing date 06/17/2019of this announcement. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
